Nonhyeon-dong SK Apelbaum

seoul, korea

2005

Site Area
6,715.95 SM

Total Floor Area 16,444.14 SM
SK Construction Co.’s new luxury residential prototype brand, “Apelbaum”, was looking for a “fresh” design scheme that fits the existing condition; the site was a “urban-renewal” zone where first-generation of Korean cluster housing was located for almost 30 years. Existing residents wanted an “eco-friendly”, more “green” with a “highly secured” layout. To achieve a maximum efficiency, floor-area-ratio while keeping a privacy between units, we created a series of green pockets culminated by a long “centralize” garden. We have also tried to limit the building materials to very “natural”; wood siding, limestone and glass. To add a depth in the design, we tried to avoid “non-orthogonal” shapes while applying inter-twinned box-shapes of various kinds.
