Total Floor Area

Client
DONGYANG E&C
Dongyang Express Construction Co. was looking to build a new headquarters building in Seoul and we offered a scheme that was “simple” yet “powerful”. Our design was intended to explore a human experience, “optical illusion”. The site was located at the highest point of a curved road, thus offering a very unique opportunity to act as a “hinge point” of the road; this also offers drivers or pedestrians two very different “view” experiences. Like Richard Serra’s sculpture, the building is slightly tilted and irregularly formed, however, due to “optical illusion”, the building will look as “straight”. Approaching from the south side of the road, the viewer would experience a “single”, very cleanly detailed curtain wall building; but approaching from the north, the viewer would experience a “two-tower” shaped building with a “straighter” look.
