As a part of the POSCO E&C’s plan to revitalize the existing “old” blocks of Busan Marina area, we have proposed a scheme to connect all of the larger blocks with new programs and building types; rather than maintaining urban blocks isolated by their building types, we tried to mix retail, office, leisure and residential into a one single autonomous “Urban Entertainment” block. The result was a landmark “pedestrian-friendly” town created by series of interconnected “open spaces” (namely plazas, gardens) and connecting bridge structures spanning over the existing roads. Pedestrian deck will be spread over the waterfront retail area as well.
